John took today off to watch college basketball. I have been working all day, but we decided to go for a walk at 2 this afternoon. It was 65 degrees!! By tomorrow morning it will be 37 with a rain/snow mix. Its so mean when we get nice weather and then it is just TAKEN away! At least we are getting to the end so this cold front won't last all week :).
We will be in Dallas a week from today and we are counting down the days to warm weather!!

14 weeks
I get an update every week on how big the baby is and what its up to. Here is what it said for 14 weeks:
Baby's now the size of a lemon!
Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine, and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys, and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over her body for warmth.

Brandy's Visit
Brandy came up for her spring break. We had really yucky weather when she first got here. It was rainy and in the 40s. Yesterday the sun came out and we have had 2 days in the 60s!!!!!!!!!! I'm trying not to focus on weather report which predicts snow on Sunday....BOOOOOOOOOO!
Anyway, my belly is starting to get bigger and I can't fit into any of my clothes. Up to this point I think I just looked like I was getting a fat belly, but I think I've started to cross over into a belly that is obviously pregnant... Brandy and I went out to the outlet mall in Aurora IL and found some great stuff! I'm excited because now I have pants that fit and shirts that are long enough :). We were going to take a "belly picture", but we ended up not taking any pictures at all. So unlike me! We had a great time anyway!

King Ranch Chicken Casserole
I made this King Ranch Chicken Casserole yesterday that was delicious!! Here is the recipe:
1 pkg Boneless Chicken Breasts
1 Pkg Flour Tortillas (pkg of 20) - note: I never use 20
1 Can (Family Style Can) Cream of Chicken Soup
8 oz. Sour Cream
4 oz. Can Chopped Green Chiles
1/2 Cup Salsa Verde
1 bag (Family Style Bag) Shredded Cheese
Salt, Pepper & Cumin to Taste
1. Boil Chicken in water until cooked. Take out and cut into small pieces or shred.
2. Mix Cream of Chicken Soup, Sour cream, Green Chiles, ad Salsa Verde together in a bowl.
3. In a large casserole pan start to layer beginning with the sour cream mix to coat the bottom, then add tortillas, more mix, some of the shredded chicken and cheese. You should be able to get 2 full layers in the pan. Then the top layers should be tortillas, then the sour cream mix, and then cover with shredded cheese.
4. Bake covered with foil for 45 minutes at 350. Take foil off the pan and bake for another 10 minutes or until cheese begins to turn golden brown.

Turkey Fry
Some of our friends from church invited a group of people over for a turkey fry on Saturday. there were 5 married couples at the party. Two of us are from TX. Three of the couples are expecting babies this summer. Its so much fun for us to talk about what is going on right now. The other two women have been pregnant before so they know what to expect.
I made sweet potato casserole because John loves it and I made it for our Thanksgiving at church last year and everyone loved it. It was a hit, even people who said they don't usually like sweet potatoes would eat it! I told them it was becasue it had so much sugar in it they couldn't taste the sweet potatoes. The turkey was great too. The funny thing was everyone else who wasn't from TX had never heard of frying a turkey before. The other couple from TX also grilled pheasant that was wrapped in bacon. I haven't had that in YEARS! It was so good. We had so much food and then we all played Catch Phrase. John and I stayed late and then drove back into the city. I was exhausted yesterday, but it was worth it.

Knitting
My friend Molly is going to show me how to knit! I'm super excited. We went to this store in Wicker Park today named Nina. It is a store that sells only knitting supplies. I bought yarn to make a baby blanket and a beanie that will have turtles on it! I will post pics once I'm done. I wanted to learn, but don't have time to wait until we find out boy/girl, so I'm making unisex colors. I'm really excited about the colors I picked out! Wish me luck. I'm learning my first stitch tomorrow.

Great news...Tarver baby!
9 weeks 2/12/10
6 weeks 1/21/10
5 weeks 1/15/10John and I are going to have a baby!! I'm due September 14th. I am 12 weeks 3 days today...but I'm getting ahead, lets start at the beginning. The beginning of January I was wondering why I took a pregnancy test that came back negative, yet I was 40 days late. I made an appointment with my ob and we discussed our options going forward. She was going to put me on treatment for Clomid, a fertility drug. This was on a Thursday. I went to Walgreen's to get my prescription filled and decided to buy some pregnancy tests while I was there. They had a pack of 3 on sale so I bought it. On Saturday John and I were going to a wine tasting. At my ob's she didn't give me a pregnacy test so I decided to take one just to make sure before I went to the wine tasting. So Friday night I took a test. It came back with a +, and I mean a bright +. John and I were still skeptical so I took another test. This one was digital. It came back "positive". We decided that we still weren't sure so I should take the third one in the morning just to be sure. I woke up at 7 in the morning because I couldn't sleep and took the last one. Another "+". I'm thinking I'm for sure pregnant, but John doesn't want to get his hopes up. My ob's office opened at 9 so I called when she opened and made an appointment for the following Friday. Based off my last period I would be 7 weeks pregnant at my appointment.
On Friday I went to the appointment and was disappointed to find out I was only 5 weeks and we couldn't see the heart beat, so we made another appointment for the following week. The funniest part was after Dr. Clinton showed us the baby John turned to her and said "Point blank, is Kim pregnant". She looked at him like he was crazy and said "yes". He just needed to hear it to believe it. The next Thursday, which happened to be John's bday, we went in for a 6 week appointment and we saw the heartbeat. I was so happy. I went back at 9 weeks and could see feet and hands and the baby was rubbing its belly. I also heard the heartbeat for the first time. It brought tears to my eyes!
Today I went in for my 12 week 3 day appointment and the baby was perfect. In fact the baby is already measuring 13 weeks and 6 days, so I know this baby will live up to the Dahir/Tarver name and be tall!! I could see fingers and toes. The baby was lounging like it is watching tv...gets that from John!!
We will find out the sex on April 30th, my 20 week appointment.
I'm just glad I'm out of my first trimester so maybe the nauseau and morning sickness will go away soon!!
