We had the best time trick or treating. Austin was old enough to actually trick or treat this year. He wasn't sure what to do at the first house so John showed him how to knock and say trick or treat. When they answered the door he walked in their house. It was so funny! He thought we were going to visit them or something. He did this at the next couple of houses too until he realized that isn't what we do. He's so cute that everyone laughed about it and didn't care. Then one lady gave us two hand fulls of candy so at the next house he thought he was supposed to take a ton of candy and not just one piece. Then we got home and since hes never had candy and doesn't know what it is he just played with it. He took it out of his basket one at a time and then would put it back in. Just like he does with blocks. Then when he went to bed we took the candy out of his bucket and put it away for John and I to eat. When he woke up the next day he was so excited to play with his bucket and didn't even notice the candy was gone!
Sometimes his food allergies are a good thing. For example he never eats candy or desserts and so he doesn't crave them or want them when they are around. I'm shocked when we are out and about and we see what other people feed their kids/babies!! His allergies have really opened our eyes to what we put in our kids and we are so careful now what we feed him.

Waiting for Answers
In the last month since I posted we've had some unexpected news. I'm not sure yet what to think of it since its the "wait and see" kind of news.
Austin - we are still working to put some weight on him. Hes had diarrhea off and on for the last 3 weeks. We are hoping it clears up soon, but it sure isn't helping him gain weight. If it doesn't go away soon then we will have to take him off soy. If it clears up then we know it's his soy allergy coming back. We have been praying that this isn't the case and that he just has a nasty virus!
Weston- We went to Weston's 2 month appointment. They measured his head and said his head hadn't grown much since his 2 week appointment. He went from being in the 90th percentile to the 60th. He also has ridges on his head where the bones in his skull meet. Our doctor said we need to watch his head growth over the next couple months. If it continues to not grow very much then we will have to see a specialist because he may have a condition where the sutures in his head have prematurely fused together. This would mean that his brain doesn't have enough room to grow and he would need surgery. The other side of this is that his bones might just be overlapping right now and as his head grows the ridging will even out and he won't have a problem. So, time will tell but we are staying optimistic that his head will grow and we won't have any problems.

This week
We had a pretty relaxing week. No doctors appointments! We will make up for it next week, I think we have 4 scheduled. I never realized how much you go to the doctor when you have kids! With Austin's food allergies he has a lot more doctors and so we go all the time it seems.
Weston seems to have gas or acid reflux all the time. I don't remember Austin screaming as much as Weston does. Maybe I just don't remember but I think Weston screams ALOT. I gave him some gripe water this week. It was black, so his poop has been black. Kind of unsetlling. It did help though. I'm hoping we didn't stain my cloth diapers.
I have had a heck of a time getting those diapers cleaned. After tons of research online I realize its because I have an HE machine. There isn't enough water in the washer. So I've been adding water to my machine one gallon at a time. John went to home depot yesterday to get me a hose. I sure hope it makes filling up my maching a little easier. Since I started adding water our diapers are PREFECT!!
Austin is so much fun! He is such a delight, I can't wait until the boys can play together. Uh-oh, Weston is screaming, I will write more later.

Dietician
We saw the Dietician at Children's today. We got some great information and some ideas on how we can put weight on Austin. Now I just need to make it to Whole Foods!!
We also skin tested Austin for indoor/outdoor allergies and oatmeal. The only thing he reacted to was Dog. I think that is a good sign! Also we can go back to eating oatmeal, we just need to find one that is Gluten Free.
The Dietician also informed us that Austin is eligible for a "baked egg study". I'm not sure we want to do it. The study lasts 2 years!! That is a long time to commit to giving Austin a piece of cake with baked egg EVERY DAY, thats if he can even tolerate it. There are so many risks and he is so small. John and I really have to sit down and deicde if we want to do it or not. The goal is at the end of the study he would be able to eat egg baked in something and maybe even scrambled eggs. I would jump at the chance if it was for milk or nuts, but egg is so easy to avoid for now that I don't see it as a huge concern. Yes, he could die from one bite of an egg, but it isn't in EVERYTHING like milk is. I told her I would let her know by the end of the week what we decide.

Its been a LONG time
I haven't blogged in FOREVER!! I'm going to try to start doing this more often.
Weston is 6 weeks old now. At first we thought he would be a much easier baby than Austin, but it appears as though the honeymoon days are over. He still is easier because he takes a pacifier, but it is becoming more obvious that I DO NOT produce portable babies. Why is it that everyone elses's kids love the car seat and mine hate it??? I mean HATE it at this age. Even to pick Austin up from school is torture, which is only 5 minutes from our house.
Austin is 2 now! Wow time flies. As usual he is keeping me on my toes. Turns out he lost weight from 18 months to 2 years so now I'm trying to figure out what I need to do differently with his eating habbits to put weight on him. Our problem is his food restricitons from his severe food allergies. We are seeing a dietician on Monday so hopefully she will help me out. Also I happen to literally run into a lady who is a rep for Neocate. We started talking and she is sending me samples of two products they sell for kids with food allergies to help them gain weight. The funny thing is I met this lady about 2 weeks before we even knew about Austin's weight. Funny how God knew what was happening and dropped her in our laps. She is sending me samples this week!!
John and I are really liking living in Frisco. We are torn though, we want to buy a house but we still own our condo in Chicago. Our renters will be moving out in January so now its decision time. Do we rent it out again or do we sell it???? Hard decision since we know we will lose most of the money we put into it if we sell but we are tired of dealing with the hastle of having a rental property on the other side of the US. We haven't even seen it since we rented in out this past January. I'm just hoping it isn't too torn up...
John is loving his job down here. We love it too becuase he works from home. We see him so much more!! The only problem is Austin has gotten used to seeing him so he is constantly crying and wanting "daddy" when John isn't here.
I'm pretty much doing nothing other than caring for two babies. I had started sewing/quilting a little more before I had Weston, but for now I've put it away. Not much extra time right now. I will be able to get it out again in the future once Weston is a little more independet.

Finding a house
John was in Chicago all last week moving getting our condo ready for the renters to move in. This week we have been trying to find a house in Dallas. We found one in Frisco that we like. We put an application in on it today. Hopefully we will hear some good news today, because our stuff is already in Dallas sitting on the dock at the moving company. They will give us until the beginning of February and then they are bringing it. Hopefully we have a house to put it into to. This is our last chance effort or else our stuff goes in storage and we keep looking for a place.
