Volleyball Champs
I have been playing on the same indoor volleyball team for 3 seasons now. Every time it comes to playoffs we pull a Romo! This time we were determined to win. We had the semi-final game last night and we won in two games. Then we had to play for the final right after. The team we played is good, but they don't play by the rules. I play in a league where there aren't refs and you have to call your own fouls such as in the net and such. They will be hanging from the net and if we call them on it they start yelling at us and saying "I wasn't in the net". If the ball is in on their side and we hit it they alway call it out...and on and on. Well last night every other point almost was a shouting match, but this time it wasn't all aimed at us. They had to take a timeout because they were yelling at each other so bad. The other thing that is that we have played them twice already this season and hadn't beat them. Our teams HATE each other so it was a great game, and WE WON and in two games!! Finally! Anyway we are taking a break for the summer but will resume in August and I can only hope this other team won't be there.
Mom and Dad in Chicago
How are all of these people here on a Wednesday??
Self explanatory...
Bleachers above a condo building right outside Wrigley Field. You can watch the game from here.
Mom and Dad at Millennium Park
North Ave Beach by our house
Mom and Dad at the beach
Dad and I
This is our condo building. It was built in 1877. We are on the top level.
Mom and I at "the bean"
John, Dad and I at Navy Pier. (Can you tell the difference in temperature?)
Outside Wrigley Field waiting for the train
The Captain Morgan pose by Harry Carry outside Wrigley Field.Mom and Dad came to Chicago. We had a great time. I tried to show them as much as I could. The weather was pleasant, but the Wednesday they were here it was warmer in Chicago than in Dallas (83, and we haven't seen above 75 since). They were here Sunday night through Thursday morning (they left at 5:30 in the Morning to drive back to Dallas and made it at 9 pm that same night, CRAZY!) I took them to see Jersey Boys. We got to the theater at 9 in the morning and waited in line until 10 (when the box office opens) and we got front row seats for $25. They only had out 10 each day and we were first in line.
Brandy's Graduation
Me and Kerri
John and I
Grandma, Kerri and I
Mom, Brandy and Dad (look at that face!)
Well...she made it. Brandy graduated from Drake two weekends ago. John and I flew to Omaha on Friday, this is where my Grandma lives. We helped Grandma around the house and then had dinner with some childhood friends. Then we got up BRIGHT and EARLY to make the 2-hour drive to Des Moines to be at graduation by 10 in the morning. Brandy was the 5th person to walk across the stage. I would like to say we are good people and stayed for the entire ceremony...but we aren't. After the ceremony Brandy had a Graduation Party at Great Uncle John's house. Great Uncle John isn't really related to us, but is a friend of my dad's from College (my dad went to Iowa State so he has lots of friends around the Des Moines area). The party was great. Then next day we all had breakfast together and then Kerri and Brandy drove all of Brandy's stuff back to Dallas while Mom and Dad drove with John and I over to Chicago (their visit is another blog). It was a whirlwind weekend, but great to see the family. We hadn't seen anyone since Xmas. Here are some pics.

Kristal and Sheana's Bday
John and I were invited to my friends Kristal and Sheana's 25th bday party. They are twins. Anyway we went to Maggiano's for dinner and it was so good. John and I had never been before. We did the family dinner as a table so we got to try 6 different things on the menu. Then afterwards we went dancing...well everyone else did because when we got to the club they wouldn't let John and I in because he had on tennis shoes!! I was so pissed. We never go dancing because he is a party pooper and I learned long ago not to say "are you wearing that?" I just let him wear what he wants to wear. When he was told we couldn't go in, he told me "I don't want to go anywhere that they won't allow someone to wear tennis shoes". He had a huge smile on his face because I drug him there anyway because he didn't want to go. GRRR! What am I going to do with him??

Cars
John got a PS3 last weekend. Cars was our first movie to watch on blue-ray. It was SSOOOOOOOOO cute! We hadn't seen it before. I can't believe how good the movies look in HD! I never knew what we were missing before. I convinced John to sign up for Net-Flix and we LOVE it! It is way better to watch movies at home. Although, we will probably see Transformers in the movie theatre b/c we don't have surround sound. Don't tell anyone but we have been watching the original 90210 and John likes it to! HEHE!

Transformers
Last night there was a World Premiere for the trailer of the new Transformers movie out this summer. It was showing at the IMAX at Navy Pier. John got free tickets, but the funny thing was we thought it was free tickets for the World Premier of the movie. Anyway, we show up and there is a HUGE line. I stood in line for 1.5 hours before we finally got to pick a seat. We had never seen a movie at the IMAX and we sat in the middle. Well the screen was WAY too big for an action movie. Anyway, we get there and they say this is the World Premier for the trailer; they are going to play the trailer, play the old movie from 2007 and then play the trailer again. We hadn't seen the original movie and it was really good. The funny thing is since they showed the preview first they kind of ruined parts of the movie for us, but it was still good.
ET happened to be there and they were interviewing people. They aired it on ET tonight, but I didn't get to watch, so if you thought "that looks like John and Kim" then you were RIGHT!!

Quilting

I have taken up quilting. I decided to teach myself and I have taken a class to show me how to finish the quilt once I have the top together. I've been using my mom's machine from the 1970's. It works great, but I was not able to get the attachments I needed to finish my quilts. I started telling John I needed a new machine. He kept saying, No you don't. Well I finally broke him and took home my new machine last Friday.
I got a brand new Singer Confidence Quilter 7469Q. I'm so excited to get all my projects done!
